Four more medals in the Inter club Halloween judo festival held on Sunday 27th October 2024.
Gold for Danny.
Silver for Edward.

A fantastic effort all round. Well done boys!
Four ippons and another gold for Natalia! This time it was the Sussex blue belt and under competition. Excellent work at this L2 event: https://www.britishjudo.org.uk/event/l2-sussex-senior-blue-and-under-open-championship/
Back on the judo mat after 16 years, and walked away with a gold medal in my first competition! Huge thanks to my amazing coach Glen Judd for guiding me every step of the way. Couldn’t have done it without you!
Natalia was competing the 2024 High Wycombe Kyu grade competition: https://www.britishjudo.org.uk/event/l3-high-wycombe-kyu-grade-cup-newaza-championship/
Coach Glen Judd won silver in last weekend British Masters Championship. Pictures show there’s no gain without pain (again)
Just damaged toe ligaments and not thankfully broken!
Another high intensity class drilling competition techniques.
The club sent two players to the Kent International this year, Caleb and George. Both did a fine job of representing the club with George picking up a win and two loses while Caleb won three matches with a single loss and collected the bronze medal. Well done both.
Another weekend and another handful of medals at the Southern Schools Championship. Gold for Antony, Silver for Elliott and Sam and Bronze for Danny.
Great effort from all the boys especially as three of them made their competition debuts.
At the Southern Area Inter-County tournament on the 12th May 2024, George White, Graham White and Caleb Nichols represented the County of Hampshire along with competitors from the junior light weight, kyu grade and dan grade categories. George and Caleb’s category (junior heavy weight) won a bronze medal and Grahams category (Kyu grade) won a gold medal. Three other county’s competed at this tournament, these were Sussex, Surrey and Kent. The tournament was held in Gillingham, Kent.
Some of the weight classes were split via grades, for example dan grades who were in the same weight class as lower belts were placed in a separate class. It was a team effort meaning each player in their respective weight class would play someone of the same weight from the other counties, this meant that each representative had three matches unless there was an injury or other occurrence. Overall it was a fantastic experience attended by many high level competitors and I was amazed by the standard there, especially the level of respect the competitors there showed to each other even after being beaten.
On the 7th of May 2024 Graham White won the spirit of judo award for his contributions towards the club. Graham has developed the clubs website, attended and competed in numerous tournaments (including the Southern Area Inter-Counties) and recently won his firs medal (a bronze at the Hampshire closed on the 28th April 2024). Overall Graham has been a key figure in the Winchester judo community as he is always willing to help when help is needed and more importantly he has realised that technique beats brute strength and ignorance.
